Fellowship framework

The Pettman Dare Fellow in Music Education Choral or Instrumental Delivery is registered at the University of Leeds, at the School of Performance and Cultural Industries.

The majority of practical research is at Opera North, where, in addition to observation, the Fellow gains hands-on experience of supporting the delivery of activity in schools and communities.  They also learn about Music Education and Engagement in the context of a large arts organisation.

At the University of Leeds  the Fellow studies for a Post-Graduate, exploring topics relevant to Music Education and the arts in the UK.

The Fellow: –

During a minimum of two days per week at Opera North the Fellow acquires skills and experience in activity including: –

The programme is delivered through DARE, a unique collaborative partnership between Opera North and the University of Leeds in the UK.  For the Pettman Dare Scholarship, DARE is joined in the delivery by New Zealand Opera and the University of Auckland in New Zealand.

The Fellowships are fully funded through the generous support of Mrs Maureen Pettman and the late Professor Barrie Pettman through the Opera North Future Fund.
