Selection process

Please note: we do not generally shortlist applicants who have already benefited from a year-long, paid, post-grad internship (or similar) in an arts organisation.

Applications will be considered and a shortlist agreed by a panel comprising senior specialists from each partner organisation. Shortlist candidates may be interviewed by panel members in person or via Skype. The panel decision is final.

Timing: 2018/19 Fellowship: New Zealand residents. Closed for applications.

Application deadline: 12 June (12 noon, GMT)
Shortlist candidates selected: 15 June
Interviews: Monday 25 June
Fellowship awarded: 2 July

The Fellowship starts in Leeds in mid-September 2018.The programme is delivered through 
DARE, a unique collaborative partnership between Opera North and the University of Leeds in the UK.  For the New Zealand Pettman Dare Fellowship, DARE is joined in the delivery by New Zealand Opera and the University of Auckland in New Zealand.


The Fellowships are fully funded through the generous support of Mrs Maureen Pettman and the late Professor Barrie Pettman through the Opera North Future Fund.
