Documenting the collaboration on film
Opera North's Press & PR department is working with students and staff from the Institute of Communications Studies and others across the University on documenting a number of aspects of the collaboration on film.

Staff and students in the School of Design shared their perspectives on the price of artistic integrity in a film to coincide with the opening of Weinberg's The Portrait in Feb 2011

4th-year production students filmed vox-pops with members of the audience for Lehar's The Merry Widow in October 2010. It was broadcast on You Tube.

Film was used to document Operatic Encounters: Common Voices in 2010.

In 2009/10 students documented Opera North's Swanhunter and Ruddigore, including an audio interview with composer Jonathan Dove, which was broadcast on Radio 3.

Students filmed material for 2009/10 productions including:
La Boheme
Rusalka
Mary Stuart
Cosi fan tutte
Werther
Don Carlos
along with the Abduction from the Seraglio, which have been broadcast via social networking sites including Face Book and You Tube, and on the Opera North website.

Winter 08/09, students worked at the heart of the production process for the brand new opera Skin Deep, including interviewing the director and composer, filming rehearsals and recording audience vox-pops at the premier.

Students also produced an outside broadcast of Skin Deep. DVDs of this and Romeo et Juliette now form part of Opera North's archive.

Autumn 08 students made a short podcast for the Opera North website focusing on the Little London Hansel & Gretel project.

Spring 08, students produced a DVD of highlights of Opera North's Shakespeare season for inclusion in an electronic press kit and promotional broadcast at Opera North tour venues.
