DARECultural Fellowship in Opera Related Arts in association with Opera North

This prestigious two-year Fellowship, within the University of Leeds' Academy of Cultural Fellows and in association with Opera North, recognises the importance of the contribution of talented young arts practitioners to our cultural life.

The award allows the Fellow to explore, create, share and present their work through lively interaction with two of the country's foremost cultural and academic institutions, with access to a wealth of intellectual and artistic resources.

The 2011 Fellowship has been awarded to Becs Andrews. It is on the theme of Scenography in recognition of the emergence of new approaches and innovations in the field of scenic design and digital performance. It seeks to inspire creative work that integrates traditional visual languages of the stage with digital arts aesthetics, processes and techniques.

The DARE Cultural Fellowship in Opera Related Arts is funded by the Opera North Future Fund.

Cheryl Frances-Hoad was awarded the first DARE Fellowship in 2010, on the theme of composition.
