DARE New Composers Forum

The DARE New Composers Forum is a biennial competition offering emerging composers a rare opportunity to create new work for full orchestra, to develop that work with the Orchestra of Opera North and a leading conductor, and for the piece to be performed publicly in the Howard Assembly Room

The following six composers have been selected by a distinguished panel and invited to create new orchestral scores specifically for the Forum in December 2011.

Claes Biehl
Colin Broom
Christopher McAteer
Nicholas Peters
Emma-Ruth Richards

Each short-listed composer will work on their piece with the Orchestra, then three of them will be selected to have their work performed at the Howard Assembly Room to a public and invited audience including critics, publishers, conductors and senior composers on 8th December.

The work will be recorded by Opera North and a copy given to each composer.

The DARE New Composers Forum 2013 will be open for applications in October 2012.
